Live with Odyssey eFileIL

The Madison County Circuit Clerk’s Office is happy to announce they are live with Tyler Technologies’ Odyssey eFileIL after moving e-filing services over on April 23rd.  This was a month-long process to transition from one e-filing service to another. Odyssey is an electronic platform that allows documents to be filed, served, distributed, and delivered electronically.  While Madison County has had e-filing options going back to 2009, the transition to Odyssey File & Serve was mandated by the Illinois Supreme Court so one provider would be used across the state.

On January 16, 2018, the Illinois Supreme Court ordered that by July 1, 2018 the Circuit Clerk shall have eFileIL up and ready for Madison County.  The Circuit Clerk’s staff worked the past several months to get the system up and running so that everything is fully implemented by the July 1 deadline.

A major feature of this transition is integration with re:SearchIL.  This feature is managed by Administration Office of Illinois Courts with software from Tyler Technologies.  re:SearchIL is a secure web portal powered by the e-filing database. The database provides access to cases at all levels of courts across the entire state of Illinois using any device including PCs, Macs, tablets, and smartphones.

Previously Madison County used two platforms: File & ServeXpress for the majority of cases and MyDocFileServe from PohlmanUSA for asbestos cases. If you need to file for a case, you can do so on your own online or the Circuit Clerk’s staff would be happy to help you at the Courthouse.

Madison County was one of five sites, along with Cook, Dupage, St. Clair, and Will Counties, that piloted the e-filing platform in Illinois.  E-filing saves taxpayer money as it reduces staff time spent transporting and organizing paper documents and with less printing needed, it saves on paper and toner costs.  For lawyers and those involved in cases, it saves them costs as they can file documents without a trip to the courthouse.
