Q:   Where do I go to file for an Order of Protection?
When you have completed all of the necessary forms, you may either e-file from home or turn in the forms in-person at the Circuit Clerk’s Office, 155 N. Main Street, Room #118, Edwardsville, IL. Paperwork is available for filing during business hours at the Circuit Clerk’s Office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, excluding certain holidays. The hearings are held at the Madison County Courthouse, 155 N. Main Street, Edwardsville, IL 62025. You MUST appear in person to have your case heard before the judge.

Q: How long will it take to complete the paperwork?
The paperwork is lengthy and may take an hour or more to complete. If you need to complete the paperwork at the courthouse, we highly recommend you arrive no later than 3:00 pm.

Q: Where do I find the Order of Protection forms?
The type of form to be completed is dependent upon your relationship with the Respondent. Use this CHART to determine which form needs to be completed. Q: Where can I seek assistance to complete the paperwork?
The Legal Self-Help Center is located in the lower level of the Madison County Courthouse and staff is available to (i) assist you in completing the form; (ii) answer your questions related to information required on the form; and (iii) can review the form prior to filing with the Circuit Clerk’s office.
