Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program provides federal funding for projects that aim to improve the quality of life for people with low or moderate incomes.

CDBG provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.

CDBG projects must align with national goals to qualify for funding, such as benefiting low- and moderate-income people or helping prevent urban blight and eliminating slums.
