The Madison County Bureau of Special Operations (BSO) is comprised of two divisions, Hazardous Materials Response Team and Technical Rescue Team. Both teams are made up of personnel from fire departments within Madison County. All members of the teams are specially trained to respond to, handle and mitigate hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescues, trench rescues and high angle rescues. The BSO is a subsidiary of the Madison County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) which approves training and purchases of equipment for the Bureau.
