The Subdivision Ordinance is used to ensure the orderly platting of lots for future development and to provide a record for the ownership of a property. The ordinance also requires minimum lots specifications and road improvements, and through the review process, ensures adequate access to utilities and services.
The Illinois Plat Act is an alternative way to subdivide property within the County. Contact the Maps & Plats Department at (618) 296-4586 to see if your property is eligible. Please note that all properties subdivided via Plat Act must be in compliance with the lot specifications set within the Madison County Zoning Ordinance.
