Chairman Alan J. Dunstan kicked-off Madison County's Bicentennial Celebration with the opening of the Bicentennial Exhibit in the lobby of the Administration Building on June 20, 2012.

“The Bicentennial Exhibit is a unique display that depicts the proud, 200-year history of Madison County through historical drawings and photographs with written accounts,” Dunstan said. “In creating the Bicentennial Exhibit, we wanted to highlight the constant element that has made Madison County one of the most successful counties in the country, our residents, the men and women who came to Madison County and stayed to farm the fertile ground, to put down their roots.  Our ancestors took advantage of Madison County’s location as the beginning point for settlers heading west, a strategic location on the banks of the Mississippi River,” Dunstan continued. “In Madison County, they farmed the ground, built their businesses and raised their families, a similar work ethic as we see in our residents today.”
