You are eligible for monthly payments up to 50% of your average monthly earnings if you have at least 12 consecutive months of service credit, are disabled more than 30 days, and are not being paid by the county.

The disability benefits not only pays 50% of your average monthly salary, but you will also continue to earn service credit, and protect your pension and death benefits.

If you receive Social Security disability and/or workers’ compensation benefits, IMRF pays the different between those benefits and 50% of your average monthly salary, with a minimum benefit of $10.
